Next to white on the colour wheel, the third of the primary colours, yellow is associated with the left side of the brain, and with the intellect. Warm, comforting and concrete, yellow cheers us up, and is the colour of happiness, of wisdom and of imagination. It is the colour of sun’s rays as they hit the surface of our planet, it dominates our sense of smell and corresponds to the centre of energy situated in the solar plexus Manipura Chakra, just above the belly button.
It appeared on the catwalks this Spring and is now illuminating the world of design and ,thanks to SIMAS, yellow is even on sanitary ware - gloriously attention-grabbing, impervious to banalisation. A seventies pop yellow, natural as the sun itself, fluid as musical notes. It is no coincidence that Wassily Kandinsky in his “Spirituality of the Arts” compares it to the sound of a trumpet, to a fanfare.
The bold and creative decision to apply yellow to sanitary ware was taken by the designer Terri Pecora, in a gesture typical of experimental and independent graphic design. Essential and exciting, yellow makes the object it is applied to appear larger and closer to the careful and refined consumer. The perfect colour to achieve a sense of luminosity and of contrasts, it renews and rejuvenates the classic pieces belonging to the Simas collections. The bath Bohemien, passpartout for Simas collection, set in the centre of the bathroom or against a wall, the Frozen wash basins, veritable sculptures with their strong uncompromising right angles, the Evolution wash basins, redolent with retro charm, and the Bohemien wash basins, with their elliptical lines – all now served sunny side up for the very brightest start to the day.
For bathrooms in which summer comes every day of the year.
