What is the state of the art and what are the future prospects of made in Italy eco-design? Some young Italian designers will answer by conceiving and planning eco-friendly objects that will be shown in New Code Design exhibition. The event will be organized by Elogico during the Sustainable Design Week (26 to 29 of August, at the Telecom Future Centre in Venice); after the opening in the lagoon during the Architecture Biennale it will move to Verona Fair, in the hall 8 of Abitare il Tempo (September, 16 to 20). Trend will be there with TOUCH, the agglomerate collection created using up to 69% post-consumer recycled glass. The material inspired JoeVelluto (JVLT) designers from Vicenza, who developed the concept of "Walkin 'on glass”. Touch, thanks to its strength and lightness and a thickness of only 6 mm, can cover surfaces that are already covered by other materials, reducing waste production: it is particularly suitable for floor applications. The inspiration for the concept is the process of giving new life to recycled glass. From a few slabs of Touch, in different colors, JoeVelluto derived the shapes of different glass bottles through waterjet cut. The bottles are recomposed for a perfect fit on the floor as an optical geometry.
THE CONCEPT by JOEVELLUTO (JVLT)
"Walkin'on glass" module for glass flooring - Limited Edition The project, inspired by the idea of walking on glass, consists into a glass module that can be used to realize floorings in big functional areas. The module represents shapes of bottles of different sizes made of slabs of Touch agglomerates by Trend. The origin of Trend production is the disposal of everyday glass containers and their reuse. Therefore using the icon of the bottle we can immediately refer to the genesis and the heart of this product.
Touch is GREENGUARD Children & Schools certified: it means it has no dangerous volatile organic emissions (VOC) and guarantees the quality of air of indoor environments. Available in squared or rectangular slabs measuring a maximum of 3 meters per 1,20, it fits perfectly as a floor and wall covering or as a countertop. It can be easily water-jet cut and hot curved to reach a radius equal to or bigger than 70 cm: this allows the most creative decorative solutions.
